Citing your Research
As you do research on a report, you need to keep track of the
resources that you use. As you use the ideas that you find, you
must give credit to the person or persons who found the facts or
wrote the idea. This process is called “citing sources”. There
are many different kinds of sources for your research, such as
books, encyclopedias, magazines, interviews, electronic
resources, World Wide Web, video and even emails. There are
special guidelines for citing sources. Your finished list of
sources is called a bibliography. Use the website below to
find how to cite a source. Follow the directions carefully. In
particular, you will be looking for how to cite a World Wide Web
resource.

As you do your research,
you must be careful to take notes, and not to copy and paste the
text into your document. Copying and pasting the text, and
pretending that you wrote it is called plagiarism. Check out
this
website to read more about plagiarism and ways that you can
avoid it.
