Useful Definitions

Bibliography:  A list of sources used when researching a topic.  Includes the title of the book, article, or website, the date of publication, and the author(s).

Citation:  A entry noting the source of a quote, paraphrase, or idea as an authority or proof.

Date of Access:  The date that information was taken from a website.

Document:  A file created in a word processing program such as Appleworks or MS Word.

FLOTUS:  First Ladies of the United States

Graphics:  Images such as photographs, paintings, maps, etc that are available on the Internet.

Plagiarism:  Using another's words and ideas and passing them off as your own.

POTUS:  Presidents of the United States

Spreadsheet:  A file created in a spreadsheet program such as Appleworks or MS Excel that allows you organize and sort information in columns and rows.

Text Wrap Tool:  A tool in a spreadsheet program that allows you to 'wrap' the text within a defined width of a column.

URL:  Universal Resource Locator

Text:  Words and phrases entered into a word processing or a spreadsheet document.

Cells:  The boxes where columns and rows intersect on a spreadsheet.
